Overnight Oats Strawberry Jam (Print)

Creamy oats with vibrant strawberry chia jam for a nourishing, make-ahead breakfast option.

# Ingredients:

→ Overnight Oats Base

01 - 1 cup rolled oats (gluten-free if needed)
02 - 1 cup milk of choice (dairy or plant-based)
03 - 1/2 cup plain Greek yogurt or dairy-free yogurt
04 - 1 tablespoon maple syrup or honey
05 - 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
06 - Pinch of salt

→ Strawberry Chia Jam

07 - 1 cup fresh or frozen strawberries, hulled and chopped
08 - 1 tablespoon maple syrup or honey
09 - 1 tablespoon chia seeds
10 - 1/2 teaspoon lemon juice (optional)

→ Topping

11 - Sliced fresh strawberries
12 - Chopped nuts or seeds (optional)

# Instructions:

01 - In a small saucepan, combine strawberries and maple syrup. Cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until strawberries soften and begin to break down, approximately 5-7 minutes. Mash with a fork or potato masher to desired consistency. Stir in chia seeds and lemon juice if using. Remove from heat and allow to cool; the mixture will thicken as it cools.
02 - In a mixing bowl or jar, combine oats, milk, yogurt, maple syrup, vanilla extract, and salt. Mix thoroughly. Divide oat mixture between two jars or bowls. Top each with 2-3 tablespoons of cooled strawberry chia jam. Cover and refrigerate overnight or for at least 4 hours.
03 - In the morning, stir gently if desired. Top with fresh strawberries and nuts or seeds before serving.

# Pro Tips:

01 -
  • No morning scramble—your breakfast is waiting in the fridge, perfectly creamy and ready to eat.
  • The strawberry chia jam tastes homemade and elegant, but honestly takes less time than brewing a second cup of coffee.
  • It works for almost any diet without feeling like you're missing out on flavor or texture.
02 -
  • Don't skip cooling the jam before adding it to the oats, because warm jam will make the oats watery and ruin the texture you worked for.
  • The chia seeds thicken as they sit, so if your jam seems too thin when you first make it, trust the process—by morning it'll be exactly right.
03 -
  • Use a ratio of 1 part oats to 1.2 parts liquid total (including yogurt), which sounds precise but just means slightly more liquid than you'd think you need—the oats drink everything up overnight.
  • Toast your nuts or seeds before adding them in the morning, because that warm crunch against cold creamy oats creates this textural contrast that makes you actually slow down and taste things.
